The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) International Women & Motorcycling Conference, presented by Harley-Davidson and Buell, is going strong in beautiful Keystone, Colo., with wonderful weather, plenty of activities and an energizing vibe that has everyone at the conference jazzed about motorcycles, camaraderie and kicking back with other riders.
The festivities included several exciting programs. One of the most exciting was the Friday night International Street Party, hosted by the Motorcyclists Confederation of Canada (MCC), kept the event rocking.
Tigra Tsujikawa (right in above photo), marketing and special events manager for the AMA, was on location making sure the whole show, from the seminars to the demo rides to the Marketplace and AMA Membership Lounge, ran smoothly. Speaking at the conference, she said things couldn’t have worked out better in Keystone.
“The weather’s wonderful and the activities have been great,” Tsujikawa said on Friday morning. “Last night we had our great barn dance, and everyone had an incredible time. At one time, I think there were 30 people line dancing and enjoying themselves, and the environment was incredible.”
The International Street Party was certainly one of the highlights of Friday’s program, replicating the excitement of the barn dance. Liz Jansen (left in above photo) is an MCC director, and she said she was thrilled with the program on tap at the International Street Party.
“We have our fabulous keynote speaker, who’s Canadian, Deb Grey (the Reform Party’s first Member of Parliament), who we think will bring a lot of good information about leadership,” Jansen said the morning before the function. “There will be a bike show and a fashion show. We also brought a lot of great entertainment from Canada, including Johnny Rev and the Pushrods. There will be drawings and prizes. Of course, there will be mingling, a lot of fun. We’ll also be recognizing all the different countries that are represented at the conference.”
Including hundreds of women riders from the United States, the AMA International Women & Motorcycling Conference, presented by Harley-Davidson and Buell, also attracted attendees from Canada, Japan, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Australia.
“We also have international sponsorship tonight,” Jansen said. “We have support from Honda Canada, BMW Motorrad Canada, Deeley Harley-Davidson. Ontario Tourism is here, along with Parts Canada and two of our Canadian motorcycle magazines, Motorcycle Mojo and Inside Motorcycles. They’re part of what’s made tonight possible.”
